Jacquard: This is an intricate method of weaving invented by Joseph J. M. Jacquard in 1801 – 1804. The invention works by a headmotion at the top of the loom holding up and operating a set of punched cards to create the motif desired. The perforations in the cards, connected to the rods and cords, regulate the raising of the positioned warp thread mechanisms. Traditionally these fabrics are either simple or very elaborate in terms of design.
