Lacquer Prints: Are designs which lustrous lacquer is used to colour patterns.
Lamb’s Wool: Wool fibres produced from lambs at the age of 7 to 8 months old, this is the virgin clipping from the lamb.
Lap: Is the term given to cotton which is wound ready for further processing.
Linen: The yarn for this fabric is is produced from the flax plant. The fibres range from a couple of inches to a yard in length.
Llama: Originate from Peru &Bolivia. They are part of a family of 4 animals: llama, alpac, guanaco and vicuna. Fibres produced from these animals fleeces vary from brown to black to white in colour. Their yarn in incredibly luxurious and coveted.
Loden Cloth: This coating fabric originates from Austria and Germany. It is made from a coarse grade of wool which contains natural grease. This grease helps to repel water making them ideal for all weather coats and jackets.
London Shrunk: Is a special finish given to cloth. It is a hot and cold water treatment given to worsted fabrics to ensure shrinkage percentages. This finishing process relaxes stresses and strains in fabrics caused in manufacturing. It allows the cloth to become supple and soft in hand.
Longcloth: A term given to fine plain weave cotton cloth made from hgih quality yarn.
