Mercerizing: This is a finsihing process applied extensively on cotton yarn and cloth. This process involves immersing the mateial wiht a cold sodium hydroxide solution. The treatment increases the strength and ability for dying processes, which if done so under tension increase the luster of the fabric. It is most successful with combed yarns.
Merino: Is the finest wool obtained in the world. This fibre is traditionally used in woollen an dworsted cloths.
Mohair: Comes in the form of long lustrous strong hair from the Angora goat. These goats originated in the Himalaya mountains where they migrated from to Ankara in Turkey. It is a very dry fabric which suits hot tropical climates, very popular in Japan &other Far Eastern countries.
Moleskin: Is a heavy satin weave fabric constructed on a 5-end or 8-end satin, by using heavy soft spun filling a good napped surface effect is created. This imitates the surface of a mole, hence the name. Carded cotton yarn is used and the fabric is napped and sheared to create the suede effect.
Mule Spinning: This is done so with a machine that has an intermittent motion. Yarn is drawn in and twisted out then wound into a cop, bobbin or tube. This cycle is repeated several time a minute.
