Xanthating: An intermediate step in the manufacture of viscose rayon in which alkali cellulose is treated with carbon bisulphide for several hours at specified temperatures converting it into cellulose xanthate.

Xylina: A bleached cotton fabric made from cotton grown in upper Egypt. It was very popular with wealthy classes of the Roman Empire.

Xylodine: Yarn made by twisting a strip of paper and coating with glue and fibre.
